2009 Annual BBQ & Presentation Day

Tolosa Park was the venue for our Annual BBQ and Presentation day. After constant rain throughout the year disrupting our racing schedule and rain forecast for today, we were blessed with a warm sunny day. It was a slow start to the day ... gates didn't open until 10:30 so we had a bit of a wait and a queue started to form.

Member's and their families arrived, unpacked the esky's and chairs and then the usual R/C stories started. Out came the R/C toys, a mixture of buggies, stadium trucks and a 1/18th .... well it looked like a stadium truck but was no bigger than 1 of their tyres. So the boys played with their toys, amusing some of the other patrons of the park. Then Lee Harvey proudly displayed his latest acquisition, a Schumacher MI4 - Nice piece of gear, fresh from Scott Guyatt's assault on the 2009 Nationals in Sydney. Beggsie also displayed his freshly painted F100 mini body. Great job!

A few groups started to form, which turned out to be a sort of swap meet and R/C spare parts market. We wonder if JB got a good deal?

It was great to see 2 of the club's 3 Life Members, Graeme Attrill and Tony Lathouras and a few of our members that have not raced for quite some time, Angela Bond, Rob Sims and Matthew Cleaver. It was also good to see Rodney Houghton (Rocket) make the trip down south for the day.

The caterer, Rob Gillie was ably assisted by John Batich (JB) to build the fire under the BBQ and getting the cooking under way. The ladies, as organised as usual, set the tables, prepared the salads and buttered the bread. Thanks Sharon and Kate.

 

 

Once the cooking and eating was done, it was down to the Awards Presentation for the 2009 season. And the Winners are:
