The STMCC conduct racing for 3 different categories of cars, being Touring Cars, Mini's and F1's. An overview of each class and category can be found in the menu buttons above.

Touring Cars:
Within the Touring Car category we race classes based on experience and skill level, car speed and performance. These are:

Novice (See Technical Rules for full details)
Pro Tourer (See Technical Rules for full details)
Pro Stock (21.5 turn Brushless Motor)
Super Sport (13.5 turn Brushless Motor)

Typically, the class a touring car can be raced in is determined by the motor installed in the car. This means that the chassis used can be identical in all classes with the only differences being the motor and ESC.

Mini:
The fun class, where quite a few of the competitors racing 540Pro, 21.5T and 13.5T pit their skills against each other. This is a controlled class where all competitors must run a Tamiya M03 or M05 chassis. Other controls are in place regarding modifications and option parts. A control Hobbywing 13T Brushless Motor and ESC combo are used in this class, producing fast and close racing.

Formula 1:
A new class developed during the 2010 racing season and incorporated into the Club Point Score in 2011. Similar to the Mini classes, the F1 class is a Controlled Class where all competitors must use either a Tamiya F103 or Tamiya F104 Formula 1 chassis. There are also restrictions on modifications and option parts that can be used. Due to the delicate nature of the F1 cars, this class is only open to experienced R/C drivers.

F1 cars were raced by STMCC and other clubs around the world in the 90's and recent developments in tyres for F1 cars will probably see a resurgence of this class. It's great to look back on our pictorial club history to see the changes and developments in cars over the years.
